CVNP Alternative Spring Break

I spent a weekend at Cuyahoga Valley National park doing volunteer work with an amazing group of people! The program is called "Alternative Spring Break" and it is hosted annually by the Conservancy for CVNP. The work included trail maintenance, construction, and planting trees. When we weren't working we went on hikes through the park and learned what being a park ranger is all about. This was an incredible experience where I met many great people who truly care about protecting the environment and supporting the National Park Service.

My Work as a Lab Research Assistant

My experience as a lab research assistant for Dr. Rebecca S. Snell at Ohio University has been extremely helpful in my pursuit of plant biology. I work with Dr. Snell and grad student Sarah Smith, tasked with the processing of acorns collected from 2 nearby parks. While processing the acorns I take measurements of the acorns and record the quality that they are in. I get hands on experience that is valuable to my understanding of the lab environment and the process of science.

Invasive Species Pull

Stroud's Run park in Athens, Ohio. A team and I spent 5 hours pulling many different species of invasive plants in the park. It was a great experience that I hope to have again.
